Sonlokos

SonLokos got born in the city of Miami around early 2012; their music fusions Son, Afro-Cuban Music, Timba and Traditional Cuban Rhythms with Hip-Hop, Electronic Music, Reggae, and Rap. Sonlokos has a fresh and innovative sound that ranges between son and descarga to a very explosive danceable rhythm that keeps people on their feet at all times. Their repertoire includes classic covers from cuban music as well as original compositions following these same characteristics. The band features Raymer Olalde on timbales, voice and production; Edward Magdariaga, on production and bass; Miguel Ruiz Garcia on voice and congas; Joaquin “El Kid” Diaz is the Lead Voice in the group; Trumpet is on Osvaldo Fleites’s hands and Janier Lopez completes the Sonlokos sound with two traditional Cuban instrument Tres and Laud. Sonlokos’s first record is titled “Se Te Va La Guagua” (The Bus is Leaving Without You) It contains 8 songs out of which three are covers and five are original songs. Their first production represents Sonlokos’s purpose: To preserve the roots of Cuban traditional rhythms and instruments by mixing them with more modern sounds so that new generations can also appreciate our musical past. With the official release of “Locos Por El Son” Sonlokos gets the recognition of the industry by being nominated to a Latin Grammy as Best Tropical Traditional Record of the Year 2015. They also enjoy the applause and recognition of the audiences in their diverse presentations where the fans sing the songs and dance to their infectious rhythm all over the United States. Locos Por El Son also got the attention of international radio in countries like Peru, Colombia, Canada and Cuba.
